The Aetna Theatre at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford is not the only place you can catch this totally unique take on the holiday classic.

"The Nutcracker Suite & Spicy" was filmed for the digital arts stage at the iconic Bushnell Theatre by Emmy winning director Ryan Glista.

This digital version (aka "Digicracker") features innovative filming techniques to present the show in two ways--on large digital screens seen all over the outside of the Bushnell building and with groundbreaking projection mapping inside in the lobby.

Carolyn Paine's choreography from the live show was adapted to be filmed for this and the dancers faced new struggles as they had to work with large to scale arches that were built by the Bushnell so that in the projection they dance over and through the windows. This was particularly challenging in bringing the production's iconic snowball scene-done on large white balls-to life.

This digital production was shot over the course of multiple days at the SoNo Studios sound stage in Norwalk and on stage at The Bushnell.

We are so excited to have the opportunity to present this show in such a unique way to additional audiences--including people just passing on the street outside the theatre and loved getting to bring the show to life and really push the imaginative style of the show with special effects and animation.
